Maria is an energetic individual who joined ECO with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, and is in the process of completing a certificate in Public Relations. She manages clients’ website content and generates media coverage reports, which provides an estimate of how often their names or projects are mentioned in news outlets.
Maria also developed ECO’s social media platform. She has built an online community and is engaged in conversation with many bloggers and organizations that are interested in general environmental issues as well as specific topics such as wind energy and forestry.
For the OSEA’s 1st Annual Community Power Conference held on November 2009, Maria generated web coverage by posting the conference to relevant web event calendars. She also contacted different environmental organizations to support and promote the conference.
In April 2009, Maria acted as coordinator for the Two Feathers Forest Products, LP’s (TFFP) website development. TFFP is a is a limited partnership comprising three First Nations (Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, Eagle Lake First Nation and Pikangikum First Nation) and Finnish based Wood Tech Group Canada. The partnership is planning to build a value-added forest product facility in the Municipality of Red Lake and Eagle Lake First Nation. Maria edited copy, researched content and liaised between the graphic design firm and core staff members of TFFP. TFFP’s website is http://www.twofeatherswood.com.
Some other clients Maria manages are the Conserve the Light Conference (OPA EECMAC) and the BOMA Toronto CDM Program.
